Well, if you add it as a attachment, its already stored on the server, if you just email me it, I can put it in its own directory tree so we can keep them separate.

Argh, Plan, it gets worst. I never came to terms with the VAX (well VMS) habit of using huge numbers of args to functions, and descriptors. Still there in Windows NT as it happens :-) My favorite silly op code (how sad is that) was the VAX CRC one http://web.archive.org/web/20021008050711/http://www...

Aye, that did cross my mind but I wondered what would cause the filter/s to go wrong in the first place? Don't know, but they do seem to go bad. Voltage on the line maybe? 'bout 50V DC normally innit? Oooo, I didn't know they do go down, I'll take a wander over to Maplins. Ta Nick. DTB Yep, I think...

I do remember getting brand aversion to motorola at the time but I can't for the life of me remember why. Shame that, the 68000 series was a much nicer processor than the any of the intel processors at the time, a much more orthogonal instruction set. We used to use 68000 and 68020 (with the maths ...

Good idea, new section created. If you want docs to be stored on the server, send me a copy or a link to a copy and I will archive them.

So putting those (more exact) values onto PSUD gives 1.78V ripple at C1 and 0.28V ripple at the filament. Fair enough, I had to guess at what caps and tx you were using. I don't mind either way, but I was just pointing out that the ripple wasn't the "quite low" value you suggested earlier...

Yep, but it makes a change from talking about 50 year old valves :-) I remember those boxes, I seem to remember there way a bunch of machines that ran Unix like system (Idris being one that springs to mind), We had a ICL machine that ran Xenix from about that time. Next we can talk about the carpet ...

A great way to learn and so much better than messing around with the punched cards of the mainframe at college! As it happens, I was trying to explain the card punch setup we used in my first year at uni to Alex who is going to the same uni, 30 years does make a difference :-) Then got a Tatung Ein...

Well, PSD predicts about 3.8v of ripple before the choke, so with the same second cap and 3.5A load that is a total current in the choke of 4.8A (depends on DCR (of choke). The point is (as I said before) you can't just take the current that goes to the load as the current seen by other parts of the...

Ok, not choke input then. How big was the remaining ripple? I know from experience that you would need HUGE caps to actually smooth 3.5A 20v

Mine got unbelievably hot with 4A and just bloody hot with 3 and a bit A.
Did you add the AC and DC current together?

Sounds like LF feedback from the speakers more bass more feedback to phono amp deck-arm-cartridge. . Probbaly a bit of both, the lack of decoupling will increase gain at LF making it more prone to noise from the mains variation and also feedback from the turntable. The best solution would be a regu...
