My take on the 6EM7 SET amp

Since being at home these last 2-months I have taken the opportunity to build me a integrated 6EM7 SET with valve rectification, a unity gain buffer based on Nick's D3a circuit and a pair of Silk TVAs for volume control. I'm really proud of this build being incapacitated as I am with my mending brok...

Biscuit joints are much stronger than simply butting, yes, and I suspect the glue used was one of the new breed of acrylic based glues that expand when curing. "Gorilla Glue" comes to mind. However you have a very wide exposed end face of the MDF that will require considerable number of co...

anybody got any advise on finishing speaker cabinets? Well if they were mine I would finish them in American Cherry veneer. A 320cm x 40cm x 1mm thick sheet of this veneer from John Boddy Timber costs £9.64 + VAT per sheet. I reckon 3-sheets should do the job. Stick it on using general impact adhes...

I think Ortofon recommend a load impedance of >20 ohms.

However most ortofon MC carts work best around 100 ohm.

Have you tried Henley Designs. They are the main UK agent.

Cressy,

Don't know anything about these tubes but a copy of the data sheet for the 5B225M attached. Apparently the 5B255M has identical characteristics as 5B254M.

Simon, Watford Valves have 6C33C-B for sale at £28.00 incl VAT. :) Don't know if that is a good price or not :?: NickG may have a view on this. EDIT: Checking out fleabay Watford price would appear rather expensive. Check out: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SVETLANA-6C33C-B-6S33S-V-Audiophile-Triodes-2pcs_W0...

Very nice work there Cressy.

How do you build them so quick?

I've been building my 6em7 integrated amp now for what seems ages. But then I am presently hamprered with the use of only one leg and a pair of crutches. Well that's my excuse.

A veritable bargain for someone at this price.

I'd be seriously tempted myself if I wasn't so brassic at the moment.

Cressy,

try these

A re-tip and new Ruby Cantilever should just about be in your price bracket.
