Re: WANTED Sony PS6750 Direct Drive Turtable
It is nice indeed, but if anyone sees a PS8750 for sale, bite their bloody hands off... We couldn't sell ours as the LP12/Grace was where UK interest was, but the Sony 8750 was clearly superior to all-comers at the time I remember.

Re: Wanted - 6-8" full-rangers
I think Tekton use Eminence drivers full out in some of their well liked speakers, but add a gently rolled-in tweeter to help with high frequency dispersion, as larger drivers apparently don't 'disperse' well, apparently... (a shame import charges ruin the great value in their home market) Not much ...

Re: Welcome to our new arrival: Goldring Lenco GL72 travelling deck
Nope the 75 platter wont fit, just tried it. It has a larger bearing diameter and length. The 75 bearing would have to have the mounting holes reamed bigger to fit as the mounting flange is different and the centre hole made larger aswell. The 72 platter appears to have been trued on a lathe given ...

Re: Welcome to our new arrival: Goldring Lenco GL72 travelling deck
if you wanted to step up the performance despite the looks, I think the GL75/78 platter will fit right on. far heavier and better 'technical' performance I think. Great old decks these and yours has the bias adjuster not there on the GL69. Sony did a version with tarted up headshell and a green-styl...

Re: The Hi-Fi Industry and Hobby
Some of the bullshit wasn't really, looking back. Having speakers wobbling about isn't a good idea in my experience and proper siting of turntables has transformed the sonics of vintage direct drives too in my experience. The whole hierarchy business (in vinyl systems anyway) holds pretty true I sti...

Re: ADC Options to play vinyl through my DSP preamp
I can't really help with personal experiences, but please take a look at some pro retailer websites too, such as Thomann, to see if they sell anything suitable at the right price..

Re: Audiojumble
I dare not attend Audiojumbles, as I'd feel miserable with all the tempting things for sale that I don't need... Apologies for the below being so off-topic, but I feel I have to reply to pre65 above. The adhesive used is good for heavy top plates I think. The transformer is attached to the bottom an...

Re: Audiojumble
I could reply, as I received the BMU in its broken state and photographed it. All I'm going to say is that pulling up the socket revealed very little to my eyes, the wiring net was bent by the pulling up, but not damaged or made dangerous as conductor spacing was generous. I firmly glued the socket ...

Re: Saiga - Discuss
Decca made some great recordings of great performances. The Decca sound was, *I believe,* the result of the recording technique and on vinyl, the half speed cutting (they couldn't do it properly at standard speed I was told by a senior engineer of the time) and copious equalisation made to the cuts....

Re: speed potentiometer id
Does the speed wildly fluctuate if you so much as breathe on the speed pots? is there an obvious sweet spot with all manner of things happening either side of this? If not leave well alone and settle for the fact you've properly cleaned them as I doubt they're worn. Can you solder to an indistinguis...

Re: Saiga - Discuss
Decca used a 'Tree' which gave horrendous phase distortion on some stereo recordings, almost as bad as analogue tape overload. I have an old friend who was a mastering engineer at Decca for eleven years until they packed up twenty or so years ago as a full independent and became fully absorbed into ...

Listening to music and finding the best way for each of us to listen to it should be FUN!!! I don't have much D.I.Y. skill to share, but I've enjoyed the return here and hope to continue to contribute somehow

Re: Ittok/new cartridge
Learn something new every day :D Never knew the bearings were assembled in that way The LV III was glued together as is the Ekos (all the first Ekos arms got the bearings stuck up with creeping adhesives I remember), but the LV II was made as I said, the fixing screws and green 'Stud-Loc' visible a...

Re: Ittok/new cartridge
Hi guy, the remove the arm business is a load of bollocks. The only reason to take the arm off is to avoid the possibility of upsetting the suspension, and this is remote as it is. There is no way that any damage could be done to the bearings unless you were particularly brutal in handling it Cheer...
