Re: testing
Yep I added copper screening tape and a lower noise input protector that Andrew had from Keysight. I remember he was worried it was Keysight ip but I found it in TAOE later. Ta, did you leave the screening tape floating or connect it to cct gnd? That would have been me. Nearly 10 years ago! Awethum...

Re: On My Bench.
Just to repeat what I found when trying (years ago) a HF switching supply for a 211 heater, you could hear the beat between a 18kHz audio tone and the 40kHz or so heating signal. However that was with the supply producing 40kHz AC output, so you may find its very very different with DC and a bit of...

Re: testing
Make sure you add the R back into T r ansit when you search for driver :-) The card I was talking about was the internal sound card. There are still drivers for it, the problem is finding a motherboard with the interface for it. Though it is PCI, so maybe. Ah! 'R'....well spotted. Ta. I run W10 Pro...

Re: On My Bench.
Ta for your thoughts Mike and Nick. Hmm, I'm leaning towards repairing the faulty module (so I have 2 working) and just trying it to see if this approach has got any legs. EDIT. The specs on that board from the web, they run the switching frequency at 180KHz, Voltage regulation method: PWM modulatio...

Re: testing
I did a forum search for 'Millet' and this thread came up, hope it's OK with our-Ed if I hijack it for a bit. Testing, I'm clearing a stack of projects and 'stuff' I've been meaning to do for years that have piled up on my bench. I've found my old Pete Millet Soundcard interface box and M-Audio Tran...

Re: On My Bench.
What's the background in photos, is it a mat? Yeah, exactly as our-Ray mentioned. It's just a soft silicone rubber mat to stop equipment sliding about on the bench. Every so often I have to vacuum clean it to get bits of wire and solder blobs out of the pores as the mat has chemically reacted with ...

Re: On My Bench.
Afternoon all. I've got a pair of DC-DC convertors on my bench, they came from an old AV project a chum was involved with. Its been dismantled and scrapped so these were going to be binned, I snaffled them just because I've never used anything like them before. https://i.imgur.com/z1tmmmn.jpg One is...
