Just have to be careful when operating the on/off switch. Yup, that was how JTS and Jon busted my Nekkid 103 :( we have a 'house rule' that means the arm lift stays up ALL the time there's not a record playing Top tip that DTB, I never leave it down while not actually playing, even if on the rest. ...

Re: How things used to be.

It's so true! I'm coming over all nostalgic :D But then,we didn't have much in the way of medicines, hence the girl in my class with leg-irons Yes I rmember that! That'd be the polio epedemic As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Not to mention the neat bit of rope loope...

No what this is about is getting rid of multiple long screened cable runs, and or many wires which can pick up interference, so get the all the selector switching done right at the sockets soon as the signals come in, plus possibility to use better switching contacts. E.g. I tried it with sealed ree...

Sorry if it seems like we're trying to tell you what to do, that isn't our intention, I think (or at least I believe) we just want you to get the best out of it and benefit as a result. Often doesn't need to be at all complicated. I've only been on this forum a very few months but nevertheless have ...

One DA100 on it's own is not a lot of use is it? Expect yes it's very rare. I was once after DA30's, no chance

Strangely enough my broadband and internet access is reasonably stable ? Funny you should mention that, yesterday mine was all over the shop; 'page not found' (error 404), or 'security certificate not for this web address', even on same site I've just been looking at; couldn't get into me excite em...

Could very well be. Glass of iced water in front of where the air is sucked in? My notebook's often standing on two little blocks of wood so's the fan's got some chance of getting some air into it LOL Seriously you maybe wanna get inside with a vacuum cleaner, it's amazing the amount of fluff ...

FWIW the PCL power pentodes might make half decent audio o/p tubes, albeit few Watts and odd heater Voltage. Unfortunately most of 'em are only any good for TV's cos that's what they were designed for. E.g. the EHT rect.s are probably 12 kV IIRC but very small current, just for the picture tube, so ...

I've usually found most of the problems are the connectors at each end. I'm using what was cheapish OFC bu-ut , with a dodgy contact either end it might as well be anything! Just shoving the stripped ends into terminal posts (even gold ones!) is no good because soon as you strip the insulation off t...

Just remembered re Switcher, tried something like this once using single-make 5V reed relays, coils in series (one for each channel as a pair, series coils activated from 12V plus a series LED). With the advantage that the contacts are sealed. They were like 8-pin single inline (SIL) IC's. Real pain...

Nick wrote:Maybe replace the ecc83 phase splitter with a ecc82, should have some resistor changes, but I might just work swapping the valve.
Or, ECC81, could be a straight swap. :D Plus, notice EF86 is wired as triode so can't reduce gain any more of that very easily.

Hold on is this still the "two monoblocks" ? Wot DTB "fettled" ? 200mV sensitivity, surely the most obvious thing is reduce the gain, i.e. decrease the feedback resistor value. I notice R3(?) is 100R, try making R4 2k7 and try that. Like the ol' Mullard 520 use 5k6 or summat, red...
