JB got a new bridge ... http://studio939.zenfolio.com/img/s8/v9/p314627698-5.jpg It's a big improvement on the stock bridge. The new bridge has improved the clarity, tone, punch, harmonics and sustain on the JB no end - well worth the outlay and mucking about factor. And it does it all without chuck...

To date I've found little issue with recording quality from Linn Records.
If things sound rubbish at your end Colin, then there's something not right with your setup.

I, like Ed, would suggest that the problem lies with the environment you're running Foobar/WASAPI in. What's running in the background that doesn't need to be running? CCLeaner has a startup tool which allows you to see and switch off (if necessary) applications that initialise on computer startup. ...

The relevant drivers do not come with the Foobar installer.
You can find ASIO and WASAPI driver downloads on the Foobar site.

Windows PCs use Windows audio drivers. If you use any other software media player then you need to get it to run without the Windows drivers. Foobar has ASIO drivers (for XP), and WASAPI (for Vista & later), and these need to be installed to get the best out of Foobar. It's the same with WinAmp ...

According to the specs (for cat5) I read the max current is 0.577A PER CONDUCTOR. So, as I'm using 8 conductors (4 + 4) surely I'm actually within the rating ? You didn't mention 8 conductors... I've used it (a single run) for AC heater supplies to valves in the past with no heat problems. A single...

No doubt.
And the specification will have been determined with the cable in a normally specified communications installation.
Just be aware of the situation.

On my dual mono PSU, when powering the KT66 PP amp it would be two KT66 and a D3a, so around 2.85 amps. Most other amps would be in the order of 0.5A. "Most other amps" is well within the cable's spec. The others are nearly double the cables safe current handling capability. That'...

I'm pleased that you tried it out Mike :) My initial thoughts were along the lines of each pair are twisted at a certain ratio to maximise RF rejection, and that the way you'd split the pairs initially had made some basic capacitors, which may or may not have been a good thing. So all I really wante...
