Ah I see.

That's very light for mahogany.

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Impressive. In a way it's a shame to have covered up mahogany, but the maple looks great. I take it the body is flat rather than gently curved?

A big lump of mahogany can't have been cheap? Is it preferred for guitars, or just something you had laying around?

:thumbright: to JCLPCB. And others like PCBWay. It has to be very simple point-to-point now for me to bother, it's easy enough, and satisfying, to draft a PCB. And so cheap.

I'm interested in your veneering technique when you get to that bit. I haven't done any yet but must try sometime.

Re: PSE EL84 Amplifier

No they're good points. I was thinking earlier how different the amps are - whilst they're both SETs they're quite different really. I don't remember the bass being compromised switching to the 45s, but I was using class D with the GM70s too as I'd found the passive crossover robbed life and detail....

Re: PSE EL84 Amplifier

But today if I wanted better bass I would follow Simon. There is no longer any point to building a valve bass amp. Last century the place my head was. Valves could do no wrong. But my single amps do kick out enough bass for my requirements. Quad 57’s are wide band enough for me and el34’s at 6 watt...

Out of interest does anyone have a copy of the WAD ECL82 amp circuit? Nothing's turned up from a web search.

Re: ECL82 SE

Right. I've been round in my usual circles of indecision with this. I spent quite a lot of time working out physical arrangements in AutoCAD as it's tricky squeezing so many chokes in to a compact space. Then I worried about proximity of all the iron and wondered if I really need to breadboard it. T...

Re: C3g Aikido Phono

A question for Nick. IIRC you mentioned when I popped round that you use ceramic caps to ground the input phonos - I used film as that's what I had to hand - are ceramics a better choice for this application? Does it make any difference?
