When I was in the sixth-form, one of our 'gang' spent a lot of time making himself a Zaphod costume for our New Year's eve party at the pub . He kept it very secret though . He went to the trouble of casting a plaster mask of his face , painting it and adding a wig, to create the second head . He wa...

If you're using LP ( sorry Steve ) its not difficult to implement a tone control ( I have thought about this a few times ) because slightly tweaking the position of the 2120Hz ( is it ? ) knee one way or another , in the RIAA filter, is pretty effective at adjusting the upper-mid level and either ta...

Indeed ! There are so few reissue companies who seem to have people who are capable of understanding some basic things about how the original records should sound . 'Classic Records' and 'Sundazed' are the only two I can recommend myself . Those early versions look very nice Barolojoe. I must try ge...

Alex, I think the DC heating method you suggested above will be ultimately disappointing in terms of top-end and midrange tone. I think you'd be better, of as you say, with hum cancellation, unless you try a more sophisticated DC heating module like the ones Andrew has developed.

Flat flap flap flap ... crackle singe ... aaarg !! Me trousers is on fire ! :confused3: I remember the drums being a bit over the top with Narada Michael Walden in 2010 . I'll see how it goes in Manchester then . In the interview he did on the radio , I do remember now , he admitted that Tufnell was...

Very interesting .. in a rather ominous, 1960's sort of way !
Maybe medium-Q will be your friend, in the context of a smaller room ?
This looks very well made and finished for something you're just playing around with .

Nice info, yes. I have bought the Deltalight 2515's, they are on the way . I'll cut a larger hole on the MDF baffle first and try them on there . I'm just wondering about winding my own coils for the equalisation shelf bit ( roughly as per Troels OBL-11 numbers ) to be more flexible and save some mo...

I'm confused because I was talking about the B&C 8PE21 on OB vs. in a 30L sealed box ( ps. the box is made from 18mm birch ply ) . To tie up the loose ends on that, Chris , that driver rolls-off anyway below 200Hz as it's too low a Qts to be fully suited to a sealed box. I was just using it as a...
