Thanks, I do have the odd useful brainwave occasionally. :D A "cosmic download" ? http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/unsure.gif The thing about trying one thing at a time is of course from 'bitter experience', I too have made several mods at once and thinking I'm being very ...

Quite often I've noticed with the small radial elecs the case isn't connected to anything. Which is surprising. You'd expect it to be on the negative side, but it's not. So seems like some sort of electric field effect when you touch the bare end, like if you're acting as an aerial and what's picked...

No I make it exactly the same. :D If you're confused by me mentioning 100 mA that's only because I'm biasing mine differently for a different current. Only thing is when I've used PSU2 and a current sink for the load I've sometimes got funny results, so I prefer to use a resistor load. In this case ...

Problem I had finding this thread again, keep forgetting it's in "Everyones Projects" @ Simon I've now got the two prototypes, need to take their photos then I can post them to you so need your postal address. My man is very loath to make another two before anyone finds out whether t...

Ooh yeah cracked tracks are a complete pain in the *******

While it's doing the crackling thing (is this both channels? Or one only?) I would try to give it a signal then 'scope it through from input to output, try to get handle on where it starts going pear-shaped

Presume typo, you meant "we require 379v got 380volts" :?:

Anywhere in the ballpark of 400-ish is as close as is reasonable in practical terms.

Yes 10% reg for the TX is a reasonable expectation.

I'll be using 450V into choke input, the load being a shade over 100 mA hopefully.

Interesting ... I hate these "obscure" faults Sounds like ~ Something clipping because it's biased too far one way or not enough the other way. I.e. a transistor. Possib-leee caps leaking but why both simultaneously? Say touching the tops changes the bias somehow. Have you tried changing t...

I snapped one off once but managed to glue it back on. That was an EL34 as well.

I would say so.

Suggests DC coupled output obviously.

Anyone else want to answer this? Or are you all "keeping clear" ? Looked up Obligattos last night, read a couple of reviews, trouble with them is it's all very subjective isn't it, one was a comparison test, very comprehensive, he said nice detail and all that compared with some other that...

For those who cannot just go bob bob bobbin'along, just using separate heater transformers as distinct from extra windings on the HT transformer is an improvement all round, as is my very 'umble opinion that no one should really take any notice of, I mean it isn't even worth saying so sorry for was...

you can usually see if the bobbin has a divider sticking out between the two sections of windings. Only if it's not covered over with a plastic shroud. :D But such shrouds usually fit split bobbins so same difference. @ Phil it's a pretty safe bet if it's a mains transformer then it's split bobbin ...

They don't look right certainly. Been nibbled by mice?
