Railway sleeper (new type, not the old creosoted ones). Cut in 3 equal lengths. First step one bit. Second is two, one on top of the other. Use Timberfast or similar bolts (Screwfix etc.) to hold them together.
Very green, neat and tidy...

Re: MJ Statistical Regulator PCBs
With bulk purchases, excluding P&P, I've got the cost (including VAT) down to £15.00 for each full kit and £9.00 for each expansion board. P&P within the UK is £1.50 for each multiple of 4 boards of any type (or part thereof), e.g. 2 kits + 2 expansion would be £1.50, 4 kits + 2 expansion wo...

Heads-up - I'm sure you'll be fine - middle-ear infections are nasty & unpleasant, but not uncommon. I'm sure it'll clear up in a few days - might take a bit longer to get your hearing back to normal - I've a a couple of similar bouts over the years, but they cleared in in a week or two. Good lu...

Re: Home digital music setup...
Just been to Richer Sounds in Spitalfields... had a demo of the Sonos stuff  Its pretty good. Eye-wateringly expensive. But good. And simple enough that SWMBO will get to grips with it - handles any DLNA server (which I already have) and the friendly Android app that loads ll the services &am...

Re: Home digital music setup...
I'm really after an integrated system with, if possible, multiple streams. SWMBO listens to a lot of Arabic & other Middle-Eastern stations that sound more like someone using a Dremel to disembowel a weasel than music to my ears... Centralised control via Android /whatever is essential, plus a c...

Absolutely. Screen supplies and preamps is where its at.

Home digital music setup...
Wondering what to do.... probably looking for a mostly off-the-shelf system to store & distribute - SWMBO listens to a lot of internet radio (mostly Arabic, French, Spanish & Greek - she's a linguist). Would still like FM, even if its just routed in as a feed. Got about 600 CDs to rip as wel...

Re: MJ Statistical Regulator PCBs
I'll have 4 with vertical pots please Nick. Your extract from the manual states 200mA max current which I presume is the DN2540 CCS max? But thinking about it, the amount of current that the statistical reg can source or sink is governed by the zener, which is probably only going to be 10mA to 15mA...

Sorry to hear that, Steve... not nice at all... at least you're doing the right thing... I commute into London every day and really REALLY dislike the anti-social b*stards who sit there and cough & splutter everywhere - it's a nightmare - STAY AT HOME. PLEASE! It's my 4th blood donation this yea...

Re: MJ Statistical Regulator PCBs
Final price will depend slightly on how much is ordered at once, e.g. the carbon comp resistors halve in cost if 60+ are ordered and there's 1,600 zeners in there so far... 2,119 components in total to be sorted into little bags... :( I'll pass the discounts directly back so the price reflects the t...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Recently switched phone from one with a standard SIM to one with a uSIM - I considered cutting it down, but that is not guaranteed as it depends slightly on how accurate you are. Also, the old SIM may not be 4G-capable... (my old one wasn't) I simply used "Easy Backup" (Android, free) to c...
