Re: Speaker cable
I have had the best luck by putting the amplifier next to the speaker and simply using VERY short lengths of wire. I find that line level interconnects are easier than speaker wire. While I was at it, I changed to a crossover before the amps and connected the speakers directly.

Re: Balanced GK71
With that much power you will be able to drive not only speakers but probably be able to get a bucket of chips vibrating - brown sauce to control impedance............
Nice layout. What speakers will be connected to this behemoth?

Re: brqal new product
Why did you put this amplifier ad in the DIY speakers forum? Why does your company measure input impedance in khz? Alnico speakers in a very high/low temperature automobile environment? What do the specs look like after a year after the magnet has appreciably demagnetized? If you have 40A fuses with...

Re: Rowuks Playback
Current status now with a second LF driver (crossover 6dB/8va at 150 Hz).
Soundwise many things simply are more relaxed. LF is better coupled to the room, one resonance in the room (46 Hz) is a bigger problem now. Will have to experiment with placement again.- Sat Jul 18, 2015 1:04 pm

Re: Apple Music
It was only a matter of time before the uninformed started trashing Apple music/iTunes/Apple. As far as Tidal stating quality: since when was the resolution of the master a sign of anything? I can upsample 128kb MP3 to any other format. Tidal only gives us that number. Start taking a close look at y...

Re: Computer Operating System Beta Offers
Apple is also very restrictive with SSD support. Officially TRIM is only available for Apples own SSDs. The third party TRIM enablers actually hack the system. For an update you need to turn the trim enabler off. After the update you turn it back on. I have been doing this for 5 years (also beta tes...

Re: Dac's not producing sound.
I had this problem from time to time when the soundfile had greater resolution than the DAC could transform. With the Focusrite Forte, it now covers all of the resolution files that I have, but with the old Focusrite Saffire 24, I had this problem regularly.

You can use a 307A instead of a KT77. It is direct heated, sounds great (at least in my context much better than a 300B). The circuit just changes a bit and 6K is close enough.......

Glass tube instead of Aluminium. Tracks a bit better, LF more solid. Presentation more "bubbly".

Re: Rowuks Playback
The second pair of woofers/midbass drivers has arrived. Will be doubling up the Fanes. I want to try them parallel, series and the bottom one low passed at around 200Hz. No space for mid/upper bass horns, so I want to reduce excursion and increase radiating area.

Did Avinunca1 make the capless mod? Did anything blow up? I think that caps often get bad press because it is something not to hard to twaek and impossible to objectively compare.

Re: Triode mode.
I don't think that we need to all like the same things, but being here is a chance to develop "vocabulary" for what we hear as differences and that would help put things into perspective. What I do know is that a triode amplifier without feedback is VERY sensitive to load. If someones jour...

Re: Rowuks Playback
I did audition the Apogee Duet for 2 weeks and decided that it was not as "good" as the Forte. It sounded fine, but plugging the Forte in just seemed to relieve tension. They are about equal with "soundstage", extension on the top and bottom, transparency, imaging and all of the ...

New Focusrite Forte DAC/ADC. When used with BitPerfect software on the MacMini, there is no desire to change anything. The initial tests with the Forte were with a well designed, regulated analog power supply. I didn't even bother to test anything else. This thing just WORKS! Turntable now has a gla...
