... And I have recounted the incident involving a dead cow to a few, but thats best told over beer :-) Does that mean I have to wait 2 years? Edit - remembered something else I did. It involved a toaster. Picture this. The toaster has just gone ping (or whatever noise it actually makes), and young ...

Yep.

They had been banged together a couple of times previously though...

I suppose they need to be powerful - try getting the arm to travel from one side to another in around 10mS, with a tolerance of (I think) 0.1mm.

I got some of those magnets out once.

Mine were 3-pole, and so vicious that they shattered themselves upon being placed near each other.

Sounds like you've got a plan.

If it's the same one as we have, it reads over ~45 degree cone, in which case, holding it as close as possible is best (of course, unless it's hot enough to melt the thermometer).

After talking to parents (should've posted this a while ago), it would appear that I won't be able to attend anyway. Something about more assignments and things...?? Ho-hum. I expect that next year will be Ok though (they did mention once a year seems about right - they don't want me to get dragged ...

Yeah, I saw that bit, it's just that PV solar simply isn't a good idea in Britain, as they take longer to pay back than the manufacturer's product lifetime specification. This was according to a recent green energy meeting thing that I attended (seem to remember 15 years payback, 10 years lifetime s...

The initial question is confusing to me... Using solar panels to convert DC to AC? We've got a solar hot water thingy made with reflectors (empty tins opened out to the right shape), and that (about 1 square metre) can heat a medium sized hot water tank to 50 degrees C on a good day. Even when it's ...
