Thanks Lynn . The Quasar if I build it close to James's plans is a known quantity . The remaining work comes in reproducing what I've found from the many experiments so far, blending the wide-range mid driver to the Azura ; and how that sounds in stereo . I'm flexible on the high-pass for the Radian...

Good call Steve. It remains my favourite film ever . The next few on the list are Chinatown, Pat Garrett and Billy the kid, The man who fell to earth, Tokyo story, Blue velvet ... so I'm not just a sci-fi buff. It's hard to choose favourite scenes , they're all so good. One that always stands out fo...

The Rx , Ry resistors I used are 6.8k and 1k . Not sure which is which, but on the board, the 6.8k is the one closer to the electrolytic and the LED . The rest is as Andrew said .
Don't try connecting the + and - of the SMPS into the board with the wrong polarity

Not enough headroom through the circuit ( voltage reg plus current reg ) . Andrew reckoned I'd need at least 4V from input to output .

SMPS's are 'Kodak document scanner' 24V 5A units.
Measured voltage is 23.8 . I can't risk a full 20V out of Andrew's board with these, but was on 19.2V initially, which was working well. Currently at 18.3V :( with the D44H11 in place of TIP122 , but still sounds good .

Not sure you can join the punk scene with the late '70's heavy metal scene so closely .....
Very interesting nevertheless .

Thanks Dave . Finally a decent Friday evening music-fest after too much Country and easy-listening .
Good to have Lisa back on IRT too !
I shall re-watch the first half of the Pink Floyd clips program :D then get ready for the Marshall amps .

So, there's something wrong in the cathode/grid area of the EF86 , causing them not to conduct much . Have you worked out why the first amp had output valves with -200V on grids, which suggests the 5687 CF is not set up correctly ? - that would explain the PS being at over 500V . What was the bias o...

I think they're really transparent . It was obvious when testing attenuation on the compression driver that these were better than anything else I had.

Ah very good - hadn't seen that . I'll have a look at the pricing on those.
If you get chance try the BI Industries planar resistors for the 3.3R .

Info I got from James is that choke value is not so critical even from 6mH to 12mH , as it's a first-order series crossover . Hence best to fix on a choke and then adjust the caps and series resitor by ear/measurement .
