Thanks for the infomation on the radford phase splitter very useful.

Phase spliitter,s
Good day all Are there any better phase splitters than the Mullard design I know the concertina is hard to balance and as no gain but is there one that would not be to complicated and still have a bit of gain and low distortion or would that be asking to much, and does any one know what the Radford ...

Thanks lads for the welcome
I am playing around with a solar cell at the moment trying to get some free
power via an inverter, I wonder if any other members have had any expeirence with Solar cells ?

Personaly, I dont like them for audio as they produce a lot of hash not unlike the RF noise genarated from a computer when one is listening to a AM radio, this hash is produced by the switching transister or ic to switch the main power transistor on and off around 100KHz to 200Khz thus producing a l...

On the face of it it looks like a 47K with a 870R would be the best bet,
I have often wonderd which is the best type of phase splitter, I have heard that the Radford is rather a good one or is that based on the Mullard type phase splitter,

6SN7 valve
Sorry Lads, I got the voltages mixed up, I have a 352 B + rail feeding the 100K anode of the first stage, giveing me 136 volts on the anode and 1.2 on the cathode, if I use a 47K from the same rail I get 185 on the anode and 1.5 on the cathode. The phase splitter has a 22K on the cathode and anode w...

Thanks lads for your input, Yes, I thought the 47K would have been better ie closer to the working conditions of a 6SN7 , but having said that the 100K seems to give a cleaner sound and seems to give a better bass response the first stage is diectely coupled to the other triode which in turn is used...

6SN7 valve
I have use a 47K anode resistor with a 1K cathode on the first stage of my amp to increase the current for the 6SN7 but unfortunetely it does not seem to sound as good as when I used the 100K orignal anode resistor , has any one any idea why this should be so, I have worked on the premise that a 47K...
