Hi Stuart, The older ECC81s seem to have thicker micas. There doesn't seem to be a difference in the anode structures between old and newer versions yet the yellow print ones seem to sound bigger with more bones on the sound, if you know what I mean. BUUUT... by far the best sound I have got out of...

Looks a good project paul, i would agree with sticking to the mov valves, There seems little point to me to messing around trying take a step forward better circuit and then tacking too steps backward putting inferior valves in... Although i'm aware many like the sound of these things, and some are ...

As the title says, the venue is already booked.. its the Owston Park Lodge, Owston nr doncaster (on the A19)

please post if you are coming, and which days - sat / sunday or both.

I know some of you have aready booked your hotel.. but i cant remember who... sorry

Good one greg...but I could easily have sat through more.. His best stuff in my view and most of what he played last night was post 1995.

Leeds arena night out

Went last night to see Leonard Cohen, what a fantasic new venue leeds has now in the arena.. ...and leonard was pretty good too, we had a really good night , he played all night with no support act ...must have been 3 hours in all, not bad for a gent of his age...he regularly went down onto his knee...

Try using the DAC in the receiver against the analog output of the DVD, see if there is a difference. Maybe look at one of the cheap DAC kits off ebay, maybe look at the t-amps and that sort of thing. What I am suggesting is may be able to get more improvements by keeping the DVD as a digital sourc...
