Re: SLOB project

Excellent - thanks. Still very encouraging if the Lii units sound less edgy than the 167e's.
Fostexes do need a little while to warm up, though. keep me posted ( as you will :) )

Re: How could anybody be THAT good at ANYTHING ??

Joe Morello - famous mainly for being Dave Brubeck's drummer. One of the very best - this dude was COOL while looking like a mild-mannered accountant. I only found out recently he was nearly blind. tsKq3HD0EFc There are a number of other great clips of Joe, plus analysis by drumming experts, well wo...

Re: SLOB project

Very good. It's encouraging to hear how much they have done to the cone design & treatment. Seems like some work has gone into them. Extra bass on these will be a lot to do with the relatively high Qts of 0.46 to 0.5. I'm interested to hear if they sound good on vocals , the 167e's are a useful comp...

Re: SLOB project

Surface area x excursion=sound output. You are talking about huge baffles. That creates a large need to either dampen (ugly with transparent materials) or create many isolated “panes” that do not get excited by the single driver. Stiffening the structure just moves the resonance higher up in freque...

Re: SLOB project

Ace ! As soon as you get chance, Ray, just prop it up on the floor and clip-lead it to your speaker cables and have a listen. The upper mids and treble will be more or less OK to judge. See if it sounds good on female vocals and any trebly stuff like guitars , percussion, bells etc. I'm all ears ! (...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Weather continues nice, so I hauled my slightly stiff body ( after yesterday's tumble ) out on the bike. Standard route down the valley avoiding any serious gradients - just a few Dartford mountings ( sic ) along the way. 1 Hour 15 mins approx. Pulse 143, not really getting fit yet despite the numer...

Blimey! Its all Mountings (sic) round Mark's locale. Deffo need a skip-find Mounting Bike for that terrain IMO :)
Them's not Mountings, boy - if so they'd be called 'Mynydd'. They are just Moel-hills
