Re: FS: Fostex FE167E Drive Units

For anyone out there browsing, these are one of the few drivers ( along with the FX120's ) that I could live with long-term. They are now discontinued, so will get harder and harder to find.

Re: SLOB project

The niggling reservation I have is whether I'll get enough clean volume from the Lii driver on an OB using my lower-powered OTL amp(s), Bear in mind there's not going to be any meaningful efficiency difference , in the midrange, between OB and the enclosure. The box will extend your bass down a lit...

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

Actually I don't need to assume anything, because I discussed the whole subject of individual lab ranges vs. national standards with her, in regard to RBC Magnesium, for my own tests that were done in the last 3 years.

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

Indeed. Any statement of that type needs a reference. What are ideal levels and what are the levels in the general population? Just doing the scientific thing 😎 Yes. This is an audio forum. I assume my cousin who is a consultant psychiatrist with 35 years experience understands the lab reference le...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

Oh, look at these nice drivers ... can't really justify the 165's, but rare to see any of these 2nd-hand ; plus some lovely 285's ...

Sorry, I was having a bad day yesterday.

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

I offered the original advice to Steve in a generous way, on the basis that some people could benefit in the winter months from taking it , as it's likely to prevent Flu. I had put in the time over several years to understand this, it was one of the key things that helped me get over my breakdown in...

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

You count your money, if you have enough take vitamin D. With supplements in general, if your diet is healthy you’re probably spending pointlessly. Healthy body fed right makes what it needs. It's still a very prevalent idea that everyone can be healthy just eating a balanced diet. Doctors still qu...

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

.... just the correlation Mark is suggesting; if the majority of the population don't get enough Vitamin D in winter but only a minority of the population get's flu you could make an argument that not having enough Vitamin D reduces the risk of you getting Flu. I really don't see how the logic work...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

Minor upgrade on wiring from crossover to mid-drivers. TQ Blue replaced with TQ Black ( some cheap s/h lengths ). In the process I found out what's inside the 'Black'. It took me a few days to do this work in short bursts, first the left channel then the right - it was very fiddly and induced some s...

Re: Some thoughts on Vitamin D, flu, etc

I would say that Vitamin D is not alone a guide to how good your immune system is - for instance vitamin A, vitamin C and Zinc are all quite important. However having any of these nutrients low is a risk factor. Trouble is, the other nutrients can be supplied by most good diets with dairy, meat and ...
