Nick, each cathode is connected via a resistor to the 'output bus'. Ray Edit: I thought that rather than work from memory it would be better to go upstairs and get the manual and I missed a key component. The 'output bus' has a choke between it and ground. Sorry, but obvously senility is beginning t...

I've got a couple of Bruce's books (Audio Reality and the old intro to tube amps) and the SE-OTL doesn't feature in either of them.

OK, from memory, the output stage consists of four paralleld triodes. The cap coupled signal from the driver stage is fed to each grid, along with a -12V voltage. HT is applied to the Anodes and the cathode outputs are commoned (summed) to give the amplifier output. Obviously there are some resisito...

Nick, hopefully, when I get it built I'll get a feel for the relative arguments.....

The topography isn't like your diagram.

Mike, maybe if I could make Oweston I could bring the manual with me so you can check out the schematic. I'm visiting the hospital in around 10days and hope to get the OK to resume driving soon so if physio goes well I might manage the long journey. I was paraphrasing Bruce Rozenblit's 'thousand tim...

Have you seen the schematic? Er, no. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/images/misc/mellow.gif Yes the output is capacitor coupled, Bruce's argument being that it is 'a thousand times less damaging than output transformers'. Ummm ~ I would have thought better than DC coupled Don't get DC with tr...

Silver Disk Spinner

In a moment of madness (or was it inspiration) I recently became the proud 'second owner' of a dCS silver disk spinner, which means that my old player is up for grabs. The player is a Sony DVP S9000ES capable of playing CD and SACDs (as well as ordinary DVDs) The player originally cost around £1200...

Mike, my understanding of amplifier technical design is very limited but what I can tell you is that the output stage is very simple, just four paralleled low power triodes(6C19Pi). Have you seen the schematic? Yes the output is capacitor coupled, Bruce's argument being that it is 'a thousand times ...

Well, finally I've made a start on the Transcendent SE-OTL.... As some of you may recall, I've been nursing a fractured hip and haven't been able to get to my tools etc. - until today. Bruce Rozenblit is very specific in the build instructions that you must build exactly as per the instructons and a...

But are we not all "grockles" to someone or other when we go afar on holiday ?  Maybe, but crockle is a Somerset/Devon term for the holiday makers who descend on us each summer, most of whom seem to come from north of Birmingham and a high proportion of whom seem to tow caravans - maybe...
