Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

Brill, thanks. I'll bring along some LP's as well, just recently got some lovely Speakers Corner reissues of Maria Callas and some Decca-recorded Handel.

Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

Yep, this Saturday afternoon. You're welcome to turn up Dave, no probs. :) It'd be brilliant to hear an OTL amp through them. I feel an NVA vs pro vs OTL bake off coming up  Cheers Steve, I'll be there, about what time should I aim for? I'd be interested to see what you think of the active li...

Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

Moved from the 15" Fane thread as it's more relevant to the 12" one. The 15 is vaporware at the moment. No problem, I'll be taking an amplifier to Steve's. Probably something large and solid-state. Hope the mains supply is up to it... :D Looking forward to hearing these! Chris Yep, should be a good...

Nice! I wonder why the rest of the world keeps mucking about with Lowthers when these exist.

Re: Owston 2018 - What Are You Bringing?

At the very least, I can bring my AMB balanced active linestage, it's my first ever scratch-build and one of the subjects of the "Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom" thread. At this point I don't know whether I'll have the Beast OTL amps finished in time. Brief backstory, I was made redundant in August of la...

SME buys Garrard name rights

https://www.whathifi.com/news/sme-brings-garrard-audio-brand-back-to-uk I'm not certain these articles are correct in their assertion that the brand was acquired from Gradiente. I thought Terry O'Sullivan of Loricraft bought the brand rights in the early 90's, so Garrard has been a British brand for...

Re: Garrard 301/401 Plinth for 12" arms

That looks amazing - a dream set-up . What could you possibly be using now that's better ? :D I assume the Schick arm will remain part of your permanent collection ? - if not, PM me immediately !! Sadly not, I had to sell the Schick a few years ago during a previous 'clear-out'. At the time I neede...

Garrard 301/401 Plinth for 12" arms

This is a Loricraft-inspired plinth which I designed and had custom-made for me by a local cabinet-maker in 2009. The side panels are solid walnut, and the base consists of a walnut outer layer and MDF inner. The plinth is large enough for 12" arms to be mounted. These are the latest pictures, which...

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs

Dave, just thought I would post you a link to the latest Broskie TCJ; he's got some stuff about improving Transcendent push/pull amps and a challenge for a builder. I thought it might be of interest? http://tubecad.com/2018/04/blog0418.htm Had a look but I think I'll need to read it again with the ...

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs

Very neat. Today, I have been mostly... bashing turrets into PTFE boards. https://i.imgur.com/iFecp3m.jpg Can you confirm where you got the ptfe/teflon sheet? I've been looking on e-bay but not cheap even coming from China. My next prototype is probably going to be using chopping boards but guess t...

Re: Wanted: Preamp

I've got a couple of tubed preamps that I've been meaning to put up for sale for ruddy ages but not got around to yet. I suspect neither will fit with what you're after as one has a built in phono stage and the other has a built in DAC, but I'll describe them here anyway. First up is a Juicymusic Bl...

It really isn't, it only looks that way in the photographs. The cat paw-prints are out of focus, that's why you can't see them.

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs

Partially completed softstart / dc blocking modules. The soft start PCB and its 9V transformer can be seen between the turret boards. The components for the dc blocker (4 diodes, 6 caps) will be mounted to the turrets next. I have already tested the soft start boards to prove they work, cos they'd b...
