Are you getting product placement fees from Portmerion?
I'm sure this is very clever but I'm afraid it eludes me .. Image

Re: General health matters.

I had a blood test the other day, and now the Doctor has made me an appointment to discuss about me verging on being diabetic. :(

Re: New SE With Triode Mode KT120/150

Today, I am mostly: scraping meticulously, the paint from the large mains transformer end-bells. Got one done. It’s an hour’s work to do each one. Could have gone out and bought chemical stripper of course, but I’m from Yorkshire. There's a joke there Steve, but I'm far too polite. ...

Re: Another MoFo

Good stuff Phil - looks like the project is working out well. Thanks Ray. I drilled and tapped the mosfet and PCB mounting holes and populated the second PCB a while ago, but that's it for tonight. The MOT spade terminals were smaller than I realised, so I've "bodged" them until the proper 4.8mm on...

Re: New SE With Triode Mode KT120/150

Spent time today dismantling the Super Rocky. Where once I had a working amp, I now have a pile of chokes and transformers. Yeah, I had that when I dismantled two 50W mosfet amps. Even though MoFo is on the home straight there are still a lot of bits left over. Looking forward to seeing the finishe...

"Renault has ditched the option of monthly battery leasing for its electric Zoe, citing “significantly improved class-leading residual values, which enable a more competitive full purchase price”. The Zoe has a predicted residual value of 42%, according to CAP, after three years and 36,000 miles."

Re: Another MoFo

It's still going after an hour. I've adjusted the bias to 5.1V = 2.5A The heatsink is warm, but not hot. The choke (MOT) is mildly warm. The bridge rectifier is warm. Everything else is at room temperature. (21.4 C) I'll leave it a bit longer, then get back to finishing the other one. I've ordered 2...

why the batteries are now leased, same as all the other major car manufacturers.
AFAIK, Tesla don't lease batteries.
I don't think Renault do either.

Re: Another MoFo

WAHEY !!!!!!

First one (actually unit B) works. I've got it rigged up with a crap (and expendable) speaker and an old portable CD player.

I've set the bias voltage to 4.5v initially (about 2 1/4 amps) and will see how things progress as it heats up.

Re: Tesla.

so I know, whatever happens, we can't run out of fuel. No, but lots of other things can go wrong, but as you are used to them you don't worry about them. As I'm an AA member, breakdowns are not a worry, but I'm not aware what the AA & RAC policy would be if EVs run out of charge miles from a chargi...

I think I'd like an electric car, and for 90% of my needs, If you are anything like me now, how many miles can you drive between piss breaks? My worst time is for 3 hours after taking one of my blood pressure pills, I could pee for England. Other than that, I can normally make the 180 mile jo...

Re: Tesla.

I think I'd like an electric car, and for 90% of my needs, one would be fine, so when I win the lottery I'd be straight off to the nearest Jaguar dealers for an i pace, but then I could afford another car for the 10% usage. The infrastructure is woefully inadequate in the UK, and as Nick says, for a...

Re: Tesla.

There are huge issues with hydrogen fuel cells, from the cost of production to the amount of energy required to produce it, to the storage of it and the distribution of it. It’s a green house gas and leakage from storage and distribution alone makes it a non starter. The world is moving to EV, we w...
