Re: Another MoFo

Thanks Ed, but I don't have the skills to select one that would work, and then it's a gamble.

I'll stay with what I've got for now.

I used 193t, I can't imagine a bigger choke will make it sound any better unless you need more power
You may be right Steve. :)

Re: Another MoFo

I've switched off now, 'cos I'm going for a walk soon. I've tried a varying selection of my musical tastes, but as I'm liking what I hear I'll play some more when I return. I'm considering getting a pair of Hammond 193V chokes, 150mH @ 3A, now that the amp is worth refining. What chokes did you use ...

Re: Another MoFo

Stereo MoFo's. :D

After a bit of thought I went for the BIG 6800uf capacitors, and mounted them as close to the PCB as possible.

Re: Long interconnects.

The green cable came the other day, and some nice looking phono plugs, branded "Monster Cable" but probably Chinese knock offs. I may order some more and re plug some of my existing leads. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-pcs-RCA-Phono-Male-Plug-Non-Solder-Solderless-Connector-Adapter-Terminal-AV/164138...

Re: Another MoFo

Well, of course, I couldn't wait till the morning. :) I'm playing a Carpenters CD, and the sound quality is different from what I'm familiar with. Seems clearer, and more expansive. Bass is clearer, and a bit more of it, but it's not prominent. Karens voice is even more delightful than I remember. C...

Re: Another MoFo

I've just fired up the second unit, and I'll leave it playing on the test bench for an hour before tweaking the bias to its final value.

I don't anticipate getting them set up in the main system tonight, but something to look forward to in the morning. :)

I could have spent many hours thinking about this one......I'm going to leave it for another day.....

I've used ld1085 out in the field with a few caps for good measure.......it works so far.
All my kits are LT1083, cheapo Chinese ones, but they seem to work well where I have used them. :D

Dibond.

My first piece of Dibond came today.

It'a A4 size, and blue both sides (other colours are available). It was slightly distorted in the post, but nothing that can't be fixed.

My bit has an "alupanel" logo, so may not be genuine Dibond, but it has possibilities in amplifier construction.

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

Oh well I've just turned the cup over and indeed it has Portmeirion written on the bottom. So there ya go. Not normally in the habit of looking at the bottoms of cups  It's from the "Botanic garden" range, and your design is "Pimpernel". See what you've done, I've become a crockery nerd now. :...

Are you getting product placement fees from Portmerion?
I'm sure this is very clever but I'm afraid it eludes me .. Image

I had a blood test the other day, and now the Doctor has made me an appointment to discuss about me verging on being diabetic. :(
