Re: Nothing In Particular

Many years ago (just out of university) I lived in Newfoundland, Canada.

I (like everybody there) went to one of the local settlements to send a card home from the post office so it was franked with their postmark.

I kid you not.

Re: Nothing In Particular

Should have mentioned - It's really really useful to have a spare sets of the fly wires (https://store.digilentinc.com/analog-discovery-signal-cable-assembly-flywires/ ). At only 10 bucks a set, it makes sense. I leave the fly wires connected to the breadboard when I'm using the ADII on different pr...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Managed to bag a Digilent Analog Discovery 2 before they became unobtainium for a while (seems production has temporarily stopped). Arrived today and I've been giving it a quick test with my old scope and signal generator - very impressed, and certainly good enough for audio work. Scope and signal ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

There's a few folk over on neonixie-l that have built Nixie speedos, but they all fail fairly quickly due to mechanical failure, either in the dumat seal leading to gassing, or cathodes/anode shorting...

They're not good at vibration...

Re: what are you doing ?

Just collected a really nice massive swarm from a neighbour's garden. Got the queen into the nuc box (pronounced "nuke", a small portable hive) and closed the entrance to all but workers so she couldn't get out. Then put a cardboard box under the branch and shook all the remaining bees in that huge ...

Wondering about the crates of valves... I'll never use them...
Are they likely to be any types that members here would be interested in ?
I'll put a list up in the For Sale section

Re: what are you doing ?

For me, it was valves and Nixies. It's almost embarrassing - I feel quite guilty about it now...

I've reduced the number of amps and speakers having sold a lot at AudioJumble and elsewhere, but still way way too much.

Re: Nothing In Particular

We live in a little village called Goudhurst in Kent. The village's Facebook page is full, almost daily, of complaints about lost/wrong/missed deliveries or just plain lies from Hermes. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Goudhurstvillage/ They are completely dishonest and useless. There is no way for t...

Re: Nothing In Particular

It's a tough puzzle, but it's classical physics and, I think, fascinating... People need to stretch their minds... (I certainly do) No-one elsewhere has got it yet - I only thought it up late one night unable to sleep and reading about The (ex-Dixie) Chicks. Does that mean you are exceptionally cle...
