Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Doing 75 miles on Sunday. The ride is in support of Walking with the Wounded - it's an annual ride with 25, 50 and 75 mile options - I'm doing the 75... I've done it before - it's a bit tough as there are some serious hills... https://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/CycleHorsmonden2019 5 hour ride...

Re: Oscillosope Purchase

I'm thinking I might finally get around to equipping myself with an oscilloscope this year but what to get - I don't want to part with to many coins... Any thought from you guys on this sort of 'scope? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UTD2025CL-25MHz-250Ms-s-Digital-Storage-Oscilloscope-2-Ch-7-LCD-UK-Sto...

Re: Noise cancelling headphones

Some cancel everything, some don't. I tested my ones with the TV. They were ok, but didn't stop everything - I do know that they almost completely block engine noise (the background roar) on aircraft as well as crying children... I have others that I use for clay pigeon shooting - they block all the...

Re: Noise cancelling headphones

Likewise - I was doing a lot of long haul flights and a while ago got a pair of Mixcder E7 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth headphones. Been very pleased with them. They will run off internal Li batteries for well over 10 hours but have a microusb charge port, 3.5mm audio in and Bluetooth. Comforta...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

flies getting stuck in your teeth, bumblebees leaving bruises on your face etc etc. ... have all the insects really gone? They haven't gone - they've just moved to Kent. On the ride today I was continually pinged to kamikazi flies, bumblebees and Load alone knows what else. Millions of the little h...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

This morning's ride =- not quite got the hang of the new computer as it wasn't recording the first bit (about 25 minutes) as you can see from the suspiciously straight line in the image below - we actually did 68km as the run-in and return from the meeting point to home was not included. Stopped for...

Awesome stuff DtB! Top man!

My birthday today and the kids got me a Garmin bike computer thingy - an edge 520 plus.

Lots to learn, there is.

Here's a photo of the workbench. Two MFT inserts on a bench knocked up with what I had to hand.

Awesome
Thanks for that - who did the tops come from?

Getting the DW717XPS plus DE7033 stand this week 😀

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Hard go-and-return ride with several big hills and strong head wind. Heart rate still too high. Liverton hill at 20% was probably the steepest. Not as far as I wanted but had to be home by 12 as Sevenoaks RFC were playing to top their league. They won and are now in London Premier 1. Screenshot_2019...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Really appreciate the input guys. I'm leaning towards a DeWalt DW717-XPS which I may be able to get at a reasonable price. That with the stand should solve the joist and floorboard issue as well as the "post this job" issue. We'll see. The Festool equivalent is totally silly money. Interested in the...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Agree with ed and Ant. .... Perhaps it also depends on whether you might use it beyond the rebuild, and if so a better one might pay in the long term? I look at Festool Kapex and Bosch glide and dream! I have one piece of Festool - a TS 55 REBQ-Plus rail saw. It's brilliant. I was sweaty & shaking ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

And very twee :D ...and very rotten... Looking for a decent chop saw as a LOT of accurate cutting needed and my table saw is an Axminster cheapie and not up to it. Re: Nothing In Particular

May start a new thread on the workshop rebuild. #2 son is a civil engineer and has come up with some ideas. Area being rebuilt is about 6M x 3M currently is two similar sized rooms. There is a stud wall that'll have to be ripped out too. There is a 3rd room, again about 3M x 3M but that has a solid ...
