Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
I have just swapped over the I2SoverUSB's power to an LM7805 based local regulator. (Normally this power comes from via USB from the host) I have to say I do believe it is an improvement. In this case I am using a raspPi B+ running piCorePlayer so it's output may have been weak and potentially noisy...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
That’s a lot of separate supplies! I hope you don’t mind if I blatantly copy what you have done with the bits I’ve gathered together. Great idea mocking it up on a wooden board first – I was going to do something similar so I can A/B test different options with the RTZ as well as the RTZ against th...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
Latest DAC build coming along. https://i.ibb.co/vV6pYdz/IMG-20240423-173254.jpg This is a wine-box lash-up to test various power supply options and also the new interface board for the JLSounds I2SoverUSB to connect it directly onto the PCM2DSD and feed it with two separate supplies. Most of the reg...

Re: Another DAC Project
What rating are those transformers Ray?
Those Myrra ones seem to be better value than the Block ones, at least at Farnell.

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
I've lost track of the permutations but I think so yes.
There is some talk of different capacitor values in the passive filter part but all that doesn't affect the actual pcb provided you use 0805 sized COG or PPS caps.

Latest filter board: https://i.ibb.co/KjZQhF1/IMG-20240404-094055.jpg For the keen eyed you might spot my blunder of 4 missing tracks from the outputs of the first stage op-amps. I was in too much of a hurry. Version 3 soon... However, it is sounding brilliant. This one is updated to ...

I feel for you (and you Mum) Phil. Very similar happened to my Mum.
I hope she gets prompt care and made comfortable.

More "experiments" on the RTZ DAC. This is an experimental filter board built to fit the RTZ DAC using the circuit published on DIYAudio by Bohrok2610 utilizing the opa1632 fully differential op-amps. https://i.ibb.co/jbDP6LM/IMG-20240311-115904.jpg I have installed it in my DAC: https://i...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
Just to say that I suspect most people did build with the OPA1678 and the only reason I built with NE5532 at the time was due to supply issues and huge lead times. (which is why Marcel specified them in the drawing/BOM) I did buy some OPA1678 from Ebay at the time but didn't trust them so when Mouse...

Re: RTZ SDM (DSD) DAC
Welcome Leon! I'm really glad you're onboard with the RTZ. This will spur me on also to try more upgrades and tweaks and try to see what is ultimately possible. I am happy with my main DAC / Transporter combo but I do have the 2nd unit that is currently not really being used much so I have that to e...
