Re: Ali Bastanis OB testing & results
Ah right, I'd entirely missed the suspension mechanism when I flicked through on my phone. Looking again on a computer it's far from trivial! A 3 wire cradle supported from two basket fixing holes and something around the magnet, suspended from above would probably be easiest, if there's enough sen...

Re: Transcendent Mini Beast Build
Steve is the Mini Beast chassis connected to mains earth? I ask as I completed a Sub Buddy which Bruce specifies as having no chassis connection to mains earth. The chassis is connected to signal ground - Bruce is trying to avoid ground loops - but safety therefore depends on the interconnects being...

Re: Transcendent Mini Beast Build
You could factor in the cost of the valves as well as the 'leccy but who cares if it sounds good?

Re: Transcendent Mini Beast Build
Bruce said the front panel change is due to China vs Trump tariffs so he now make them in house.
Any comments on the sound of the amp?
Beautiful build!

Re: Transcendent Mini Beast Build
Wolfgang, many thanks for explaining your experience, which is clearly significant. The lack of lower mid foundation is something I've had the impression that Bruce's amps do in general. I don't know whether this includes the Mini Beast which Ali has. Like Ali, I too am very interested in Pinnacle. ...

Re: Rozenblit 300B SEOTL 1.5W
Thanks for your thoughts Ray. Yes I believe Kelvin has the DC 300B PP version. I fully expect your SE with AndrewL's heaters etc will be top notch or better! The heaters on the DC PP will be nothing special for sure; at least being PP they should be quiet (ie self-cancelling in terms of hum). I will...

Re: Rozenblit 300B SEOTL 1.5W
Does anyone have experience of hearing the SE vs PP? Thinking on this further, I've built the 300B SE-OTL (much modified from the originally published version) and it was highly rated by the guys at the 2017 Owston meeting (about 80% down Simon's blog); http://simonsnewadventuresinhifi.blogspot.com...

Re: Rozenblit 300B SEOTL 1.5W
I've just about convinced myself to build the Pinnacle PP. Does anyone have experience of hearing the SE vs PP? I'm sure the PP dynamics will be better but does it lose out in anyway musically vs the SE. My speakers are 16R OBs 100db. The kits plus valves and tax are not cheap....so I want to double...

Re: Richard Dunn
The only thing I took from reading a small amount of Vlad's post is that he doesn't know the difference between tenet and tenant. Quite what a Tenant of Law is supposed to be I don't know.. I wonder whether the stricter internet hate crime regime in the news today will also be used for internet bull...

Being banned from a particular forum is a start....there are some people who should be banned from using the internet. I feel for you Nick, this is all so unnecessary and odious.

Re: Phono bake-off
I quite like my benedict audio hothead, really nice sounding unit, odd 47v power supply, i wonder what a psu such as the ones dave sells would do to it. We all know its all about the power supply. In a side note, had a really nice gammon joint with cauliflower cheese for tea, homemade curry tomorro...

Re: Phono bake-off
Can we talk phono stages? It's so much more interesting. I've run all sorts....the NVA Phono2 might be worth trying. I'm tempted. A good match for a London Reference?

FS: Alpair 12P (pair)
I have a pair of better than new Alpair 12P drivers for sale. I say better than new as there are in perfect working order / condition plus they have gone through the extended running-in procedure needed to make them truly sing. New they are £120 each in the UK or $157 from the US with shipping and t...
