Re: The Nemesis 813 PP Amplifier

Sensible yet the single small cap is cheaper to get quality of a quality. You chose safety or quality. Or figure out a current sink which would pull down the voltage in the absence of valves pulling current place parallel with the last ps cap, for which you could use power resistor like in Flesh & B...

Re: ebay no-show items

When I first used it to buy valves from America when I don’t even think there was an eBay uk it was truly mint. They were all real people selling their own valves in ones and twos and everything arrived. All the private sellers who originally dominated were chased away by the beaurocracy by rules se...

Re: OH YES

So, similar to making a winning formula 1 racing car, to get that extra 1% performance, you have to spend twice as much again as you did to get the previous extra 1%, and so on ad infinitum. :D The insides probably also look like they were made in a shed. Albeit a big expensive one .. :D I know wha...

Re: The Nemesis 813 PP Amplifier

in 4 and 5 If F1 represents a dc supply then u1 and u2 are differently biased. Presumably compensated in the active bias, crazy.

Re: OH YES

I heard s pair one afternoon as Peter’s guest listening to his excellent collection of vinyl. Top sound. Worth every penny if you have that sort of disposable income. Undoubtedly the materials and winding skills pay off.

Re: The Nemesis 813 PP Amplifier

“Options I've seen are parallel with the tail taken from the centre tap of the fils but have also seen series with the tail taken from the centre join of the two fils. Not sure of which is technically better.“

2nd way not an option in direct heated 4p1l as bias affected.

Dunno if anyone else has seen this but the December issue of 'Everyday Practical Electronics' has construction details of another USB Interface that might be interesting to some here too. I've scanned the spec of the device in for your perusal. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z109/davethebass1/E...

Re: The Inverted OTL

Not cheap either though Mark and 6as7 have become rediculously overpriced. A project which uses so many more valves than usual not to be taken lightly, never was, but now a rich man’s folly. The Bench 5687 otl always interested me, and once I had sufficient 5687’s. A useful element in favour: the va...

Getting there: http://i.imgur.com/U0F7bPZ.jpg Aluminium top plate has been sprayed with an "Antique White" acrylic finish after etch priming. The plate holding the switchgear and mains indicator lamp, has also had the antique white treatment, over the rose gold metallic it was originally. The antiq...
