It looks very much like the audio standard forum have made it compulsory to disable your ad blocker if you want to view the site...

seems a bit draconian if it's for real

Re: Hi-Fi Society Blog

I see a recursive never ending substitution there. technology bake-off technology technology bake-off technology technology technology bake-off and so on. We are doomed (and as that can mean anything I want it to mean it seems, its clearly true). not nearly as elegant when applied to an english sen...

Re: Hi-Fi Society Blog

Chortle ! nah......snigger I seem to recall bringing this up a while ago........ my tuppence worth is that it's an appalling name to describe hifi get-togethers or meets....I think my previous rant was the fact that it implies competition and one-upmanship(rememvber the school playground) competiti...

Re: Pass f5

quick... phone the guinness world record people...this must be a first....first time a first watt has failed.... but seriously...does sound like a dodgy connection issue....component failure often exhibits fading or some noise accompanying the failure.. You could try wiggling stuff, downstream of th...

Re: Wanted Oscilloscope or Advice

that tenma one that Mike linked looks identical to my 60mhz one with a different badge, same as Nick. I would recommend that type for the price. My version is a UNI-T and came from a uk distributor with good guarantee. If they look identical on the outside I'm guessing they all come out of the same ...

Re: antenna

I'm not sure if we are going off the path here, but in truth I don't really understand what you're both getting at here... My receiver is am, 433 mhz and this guy is doing exactly what I have been doing for some time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9JMZyeTkKQ the question arises because I want to ...

Re: antenna

it's a monopole my only thought was intuitive, to wit, if the connector acts as a receiver then i lose any of the tuning benefit, i.e it ceases to be a 1/2 wave antenna...... there seems to be no empirical feedback for this on the net... here's an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/433MHz-Antenna-5...

I'm a numpty with radio and having trouble finding info for wiring coax to a receiver. At the moment I use a(tuned 1/4 wave) length of copper wire as a whip aerial, attached 1" from the receiver. I want to have a 1/2 wave (off the shelf)to maximise the range but it has to be located away from the re...

Re: Nothing In Particular

do I detect a note of cynicism? I was tickled into remembering this, which I've shamelessly reproduced. I do hope it doesn't infringe any copyright: Comment in the New York Times one week before the successful flight of the Kitty Hawk by the Wright brothers: "...We hope that Professor Langley will n...
