Re: Room Treatment (Split from Owston thread)

Ed, I didn't read it like that at all. I read it as, just an explanation for anyone jumping into the thread with no clear idea what it's all about. :D Info only. :D noted.. when something is not clear to me or seems ambiguous I often ask for confirmation, well I do if it's something I'm interested ...

Re: Ariel 6c

They were a lovely sounding pair of speakers but they had a bit of voodoo attached. After my review in HiFiWorld I had lots of enquiries. I got permission from Lynn Olson to produce them commercially around the time I started hma and suddenly the enquiries dried up, not a one. It really was spooky.....

Re: Nothing In Particular

telephone sanitisers spring to mind here.... from experience: the car hire companies seem to have muscled in on the deal by managing claims and providing replacement cars...there sometimes isn't any way to circumvent this practice....This adds significantly to the claim costs vehicle repairers(assig...

Re: Room Treatment (Split from Owston thread)

To the uninitiated looking in on this thread, it would be difficult to gather the purpose of the discussion. The discussion is about the listening room used for the Yorkshire HiFi Club Meetings. It is a large well presented room in a Basement with a through wall to a Adjoining Room that leads to a ...

Re: Room Treatment (Split from Owston thread)

try this on the floor....

but I wouldn't recommend walking in bare feet.

and I'd definitely go for skyline on the wall facing the speakers

Re: Room Treatment (Split from Owston thread)

I t might be useful to measure that room as I don't think we have ever made speakers sound as good as they should in it. just rambling imo you cant do anything much without measuring first...otherwise it's expensive guesswork. But what is it you actually want to achieve....i.e make the room have an...

Re: clearout

I beleive I have the templates for the horn shape somewhere. They will save an awful lot of time when cutting the leaves for the ply press that makes the horn. They are also used to cut the rebates into the cabinet sides.

I will look them out if you like.

clearout

I'm being ruthless with the clearout bug which has come upon me. I'm wondering if any of these might be of interest to somebody. Love'em or hate'em I never had a word of criticism from anybody, certainly not customers, but youse lot are just too polite.... https://www.vitalstates.org/diy/plans/almo1...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I've just had the Cottingham folk festival leaflet arrive through the letter box. A couple of things caught my eye, Julie Felix at £16 when all the other acts are priced between £25 and £35....sadly appears she is a waning star.... the odd entry for me is John Otway and Willy Barrett...folk festival...

Re: Speaker design/test software

I need to digest this, I could do with getting things going again. I'll check what microphone I have ( the one Nick has lent me ) . I now have a decent-spec laptop. Might need to upgrade the soundcard , let me check in more detail what you've written. Did you dismiss the idea of the clio setup Mark?
