Re: Another MoFo

if you really must tinker with it why not try a couple of exicons. I'm willing to bet it will be more enlightening than a couple of expensive chokes. They might cost you £4 each but well worth the experience.

I'm firmly in the cynical camp...who would've guessed it! Paul brought up the question of sterling....I read quite a few years ago that if the uninhabited parts of the sahara and other deserts were turned into fields of sterling generators, powered by focussed mirrors then the minimal area could be ...

Re: Blackgate Caps

I wish I could get excited about this stuff, I really do. Back around 2005 or so there was all this talk of golden ears and spending loads of money on boutique parts because some people said these parts removed the errors in the reproduction(don't even mention the word better). well, I put my head a...

Re: dc-dc converters

no contributions, so I'm guessing not much interest in this one. To have one last attempt at provoking some input: I chickened out of the spikey smps dc-dc supply and went back to 7805 for the platform mentioned, It didn't work and the reg got toasty. I'm guessing there was a voltage sag when the mo...

I linked to Christine Collister's album 'Love' on the 'What are you listening to' thread; that album includes a fantastic cover of 'Amelia'. Ahhhh Christine Collister...... the last time I saw her live my wife went into labour during the concert 33 years ago.....not many people know that...even les...

But the PCB will be on the heatsink, so all you will need to do is unscrew the heatsink from the mounting bracket to get at the pot. Hardly much of a hardship. It may be a timely time to point out that the bias needs setting at running temperature.... If I'm reading this correctly you're suggesting...

dc-dc converters

I've recently been playing with LM2596 converters as an alternative to 7805 and 7809 regs. they are cheap as chips on ebay on the small packaged boards. so far so good and the benefit of minimum losses when dropping lots of volts seems a good plus point. however I'm having a senior moment and I can'...
