Re: Beard P101 amplifier.

Thanks Ali, that’s a good start. Yes it may be that the P101 is just a P100 with an extra pair of output valves per side. There are a couple of ICs on the board too but I’ve no idea what they’re for. I’m no tech but I’m going to try and get it sorted somehow. And thanks pre65. I don’t actually think...

Re: Beard P101 amplifier.

Yes Mike, something a long those lines but someone else said the same as Nick that the voltage was too high and not easy to reduce.

Pre65, are you always this miserable?

Re: Beard P101 amplifier.

Thanks Nick that’s interesting. I think I need to get hold of a circuit diagram.

Re: Beard P101 amplifier.

Thanks Nick. We’re talking KT90s here? I’m assuming that the issue with the Beard is that it drives the output valves quite hard and it only worked reliably with the old GECs which are now rare and expensive!

Beard P101 amplifier.

I need some advice regarding my Beard P101 amplifier. It has four output valves for each channel and mine was fitted with a mix of 6550s. One flashed over on one channel and blew the 1A fuse on that channel. I bought a new quad of JJ 6550s for the duff channel so now there's two decent quads of JJ v...

Re: Speaker help required...

Some useful info there. I have a pair of Studio 4s and one of the tweeters has a damaged dome. It's only a small crease and it still sounds fine but I would fix it if I had the opportunity.

When BG service my boiler it usually breaks down a few days later. One time it lasted twenty minutes. When I rang for assistance they said it would be three days before someone could come out  My service was always done in January but over the years it has gradually crept backwards. It's now ...

I found the same thing when I wanted that set of 211s for my Jolidas. I've come to the conclusion that my chances of ever owning a set of decent nos tubes are virtually nil :(

Chinese valve phono stage board for sale.

I have this phono board for sale if anyone is interested. Valves are 5670. It wasn't the best sounding phono stage when I tried it but I don't think it would take much effort to improve its performance. Twenty quid buys it and I'll include second class post to UK mainland. http://i83.servimg.com/u/f...

I'm already on the case. This thread you posted up spurred me into doing something about it. The electrolytics on the psu boards were bought last week and I finally fitted the cathode resistors which I already had. I cheated with the cathode resistors and put in values as per one of the diagrams in ...

The new tubes have been in for a fortnight now and have around thirty hours on them. They sounded nice straight from the box but the strong bass seemed a bit muddled and overpowering. The sound has now started to open out nicely and I'm very pleased with the result. The volume has increased signific...

You're doing better than I did! I've dug out the part built DiyAudio boards I have and I'll put a couple of pics on tomorrow. I also have a link to a DiyAudio thread regarding Aikido calculations if you're interested. I don't want to put it up if it's going to cloud things. With a bit of luck if I k...

Glad everything arrived ok Paul. I was a bit concerned putting those heavy transformers in with the valves. Yes the trannies are quite big but bigger is always better I reckon. I'm glad they're going to get used at long last.
