Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Just been listening to a YouTube Playlist and a Billy idol song came on that I'm sure said "arse about face"
Turns out the song was called eyes without a face......

Re: DIY grounding box.

What you do is put a load of pixie dust in a box along with some rocking horse droppings, blend together powdered adamantium and gundanium along with the tears of a unicorn. Once blended, these form a substance similar to gold stolen from a leprechaun. Into this you need to mix the urine of a Tibeta...

Duran Duran - decade

Something of a guilty pleasure of mine, this, ABC lexicon of love and human league dare. All their early stuff is brilliantly constructed pop, makes a nice change from the miserable dirge music the wife likes. Something with abit of bounce and joy to it

Re: Pass f5

It hasn't done it again yet I did abit of wire waggling while it was on the bench, and bent the thermistors so they are just about touching the mosfets to make sure they heat up properly, and moved the input wiring away from the mosfets too. It's the fact that switching it off then on again 'cures' ...

Re: Pass f5

Have an issue with the f5. Over the last few days it has started to intermittently cut out on one channel. Interestingly if the power is turned off the channel immediately comes back up as soon as the switch is pressed, I thought 'oh it has a speaker protection board with a relay on it'...... It doe...

Re: Finished and working - 12 valve all DHT PP 26-71a-45

Why not just run a busbar all the way along the amp and drop off the components to the busbar? All the amps I've built including the nuvistor phono stage have had this type of connection and all have been quiet I tried star earthing on the phono stage and it was no more or less quiet. Simplifies thi...

Re: USB hard drive recommendations

Pull one out of an old laptop and get a usb3 caddy to make it an external hard drive. I did that for the kids ps4 as a usb3 HD was about 60 quid. And predictably the ps4 will only accept usb3. 15 quid for the caddy and the HD was out of a bricked laptop. Just plugged it in the mac and formatted it. ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

That indent may have been done to the nut to keep it exactly in that position at that specific torque. The crank will have been put together on a jig so it was properly aligned and when set been whacked to deform the 2 pices so that if the nut started to wind it had to crack off the deformed metal o...

Re: Opticians.

Same here Mike, same opticians for the last 30 years. It is now a Parkhurst franchised one but the same staff and the same optician if you can get in to see him (there are now 2) he does things the proper way, the other bloke uses newer methods. Tried specsavers and they are OK but not as in depth a...
