Re: information needed about low power amp topology

I think the point is these circuits are from the time when transistors cost more than transformers and the gaal was a hand held radio that could be powered by two 1.5v cells. Values here http://www.spontaflex.free-online.co.uk/slidingjunior/page2.jpg Other circuits here http://www.spontaflex.free-on...

Re: information needed about low power amp topology

but the ratios seem odd
Well, the output transformer is normally used in the collector circuit of a transistor output stage so will have a higher ratio than ideal, thats why I suggested the driver transformer which may be closer.

Certainly, I'm trying to keep it simple. Phase-shift in NFB is certainly another can of worms.
Yep, but as Steve had it osculating in the high audio range, I can't help thinking its going to need some reactance somewhere tp get that low.

Re: information needed about low power amp topology

Looking on page 428 of this https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Radio-Constructor/70s/RC-1972-02.pdf Look like it was originally made by these http://www.repancobartlett.co.uk/index.html Maybe someone could email them and ask for specs for the TT56 But I bet you could use one of these https...

Actually it's the other way round -
Agreed, but if you are using feedback, the two descriptions can become the same. Just thinking out loud.

Re: information needed about low power amp topology

Been thinking about this with little or no answer, doing that with two of those lists of transistors and 3v and two transistors. 3v rail means to me that given the 0.6v you would lose from Vbe then you are to be looking at something with a single stage, like this: https://www.nutsvolts.com/uploads/w...

Re: valve hifi market

AE and Sowter are still winding to order, but there is a price difference to James.

Not sure about Electroprint, they still seem to be going, but never tried them,

I have a pair of AE 2a3 transformers that are on my todo list.

Re: valve hifi market

James still seem to be in business... http://www.jyaudio.cn/james_new.htm So does this page http://www.meta-gizmo.org/ But he died 17 years ago. When I tried to find a actual pair of transformers it seemed that at least for them all the usual sources had dried up. The page you found looks to be on ...

Re: PASS 50W single ended mosfet amp.

Sort of, yes, but the signal level at that point will be large, so its unlikley that its the cap picking up a hum field. Also the output side of the cap is connected to ground via the 8 ohm of the speaker.

Yes, a lot of stuff has gone, I was asked to make a 2a3 amp last year and found the James were no longer out there.

Re: shipping valve amps

that instapak stuff looks a bit pricey for a cheapskate like me...maybe worth checking the local charity shops for cushions....snigger The problem with soft packing cushions or poly chips is they allow the amp to move, is if its dropped it can accelerate and then hit the side of the packing and som...
