Re: PCL86 SE Ultralinear Monos

Gain of a triode does not increase significantly with large increases of anode resistor value. Ergo I don't see much point (IMHO).

Re: PCL86 SE Ultralinear Monos

PS: found the circuit on National Valve Museum site: http://www.r-type.org/articles/art-003g.htm Yep, that's where I found it. The current amp uses 100K on the triode section, with no cathode bypass. No tone controls of course :) Quool. http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/imagex/misc/th_thumbsup....

Re: Negative grid current WTF?

Well done sir. I'd like to have a beginners go at working out what frequency the curve on your scope shows, in the hope the more experienced folk will put me right and I'll learn from it. Your time dial is set to 2ms (2nd picture), so each small block represents 2ms. The curve is approx 3.5 blocks ...

I got slightly proggy (though this aint prog) as a teen during the early 70s until I realised that if i wanted to score with the opposite sex, then rock was not necessarily the way to go; not oop North anyhow. It had to be Northern Soul :D http://livinginthepast-audioweb.co.uk/imagex/misc/very-inte...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Had a panic last night, thought phone had died. Was working, picked it up to do something, totally unresponsive. Black screen, no sounds. No amount of button clicking could get a peep out of it. Ar5e. Put it on charger, didn't seem to do owt. Mega ar5e. Thought that's it battery's fooked. Tried it a...

Luckily I only needed to remove the parts that required attention IMO, so that left me with....

Re: PCL86 SE Ultralinear Monos

The circuit is based around the 1962, Mullard " Economical 3W Stereophonic amplifier" but with a lot less gain. Found that on't 'net, nice simple little circuit. Prolly dump the tone controls. I notice R6 (1st triode's anode resistor) is 220k, I'm thinking if drop it down to 100k, that will go a wa...
