Re: Munich 2019

I see. Nice to see that Verity/Zesto room. I liked this bit : "Speaking of which, the dCS never sounded good in the Silbatone room next to the amazing analog for the last 5 years. This time, at one point, they were playing digital when I assumed they were playing analog. I walked up to check, how di...

Munich 2019

This from Joelist was a useful link : http://zero-distortion.org/munich-2019/ Haven't got facility to listen on headphones, but one or two things can be gleaned from the phone clips, assuming they were all from the same device. I'm wondering if we caught sight of a famous local character at some sta...

Wow !
But ... is it a cheap substitute for the gas cylinders in the Sodastream :)

I'll start with the olive oil.

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

This is actually a fast-changing situation here in Denbigh. I was concerned about the HF/mid integration, but with the last mod of the 2.7µF/0.68mH ribbon cross it sounds very good indeed, and have checked on familiar stuff like Joni Mitchell 'Mingus' for reference - very sweet. Then my concern beca...

Re: Owston '19 what are you bringing

I reckon I have two 4-way socket extensions i've acquired from Owston in the last 2 years. I'll try to put them in the car tonight, so i don't forget.
'course it'll be nearly lunchtime Saturday before i get there.

Re: The Nemesis 813 PP Amplifier

Well done for sticking with it and working through all the problems. Looks great on paper and I'm very much looking forward to hearing it. It's a while since I've heard class A PP. Have been mulling over a 'Tabor' build myself in the background on email, this amp has got me thinking about it again.

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Good effort .. & not really 'short' . I dunno if the average power is accurate ? ; However I got some rather interesting statistics from two rides by guys at work, recently . First is Steve J.H. who rode the Fred Whitton last weekend. His time was 7:38 including stops - not bad at age 56 or 57 for a...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth

I just sat down and did something I had been intending to do - look carefully at the FX120 response curve and the low-pass filter in the amp, and work out how the driver's rise at 6k to 8k modifies the low-pass position. Well, there's about 2dB extra at 6kHz and 4dB at 7.5kHz. Noting those numbers a...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

A short outing on the bike today for a change. One of the usual circuits, somewhat hilly. 58 mins at 135bpm average, felt OK, would have been in the 125 to 130 bpm range on a flatter route. I've been having some success strength-wise by supplementing more calcium and some vitamin B5.
