Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Still haven't put them up, have I ?
This weekend - 1hr 10 on the Great Orme on Friday.
Today was a slog. 2hrs 06 on the usual route, pulse 123, abnormally low.
One to tick off as 'done'. Felt crap, and lots of slippery mud.
Two achievements :
1. 2hrs 06
2. Didn't fall over

Wow, where do you start with that - fantastic !
First computer in a military aircraft - in 1955. Bell Telephone labs all over the scene.
I liked this one about the circuit for testing power supplies :

Re: SLOB project

1. The Altec (GPA) bass drivers are good if loaded. I had a pair in an onken cabinet. You could obviously add a resistor in series to change the characteristics for OB 2.What about the Lii Audio bass driver at 500 dollars a pair there quite cheap too? It has foam surrounds which I believe an advant...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Nice work, team ! Some very good stuff there.
I just played Soft Machine 2 from CD through a single FX120 driver on an OB, with stereo summed to mono. It was the best I've heard that record !

Re: SLOB project

I though these might be a good match for the Lii 10inchers http://greatplainsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Classic-Series-416-8B-Spec-Sheet.pdf Although those are probably a bit much (SPL) , they are well-regarded though - Lynn Olson / Gary Dahl used them. Good at low signal levels. They are...

Re: SLOB project

Much like my plan but the bass using the supravox should avoid having to padd the 10 inch down. I don't understand why the Lii bass unit is such high Qts ( ie. low magnet strength). If it had a slightly stronger magnet it would be 94 or 95dB and maybe 0.45 or 0.50 Qts and that would be perfect for ...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Snork !
But a nice list Mike, quite a lot I don't know though.
Meanwhile - Patti Smith 'Hiorses' from CD - checking out my friend's FX120 driver on test OB baffle, just the right channel.
It's such a subtle album, really a great recording. Keeps growing in my estimation.

A sad day indeed. What a great guy. Mr. Creosote, Brian's Mum, Cardinal Biggles. Also half of Ripping Yarns.
A local man of course, found out he's not just from North Wales but from Colwyn Bay, just up the road.

Re: SLOB project

Wofgang - I really don't know enough about servo-controlled woofers. My understanding is they are mostly used for high power applications in PA. Do they sound any good at normal room HiFi levels ? It would probably need to bi-amped, as I have no idea what it's parameters would look like in a convent...
