Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

If all the above sounds like I’m saying the speakers sounded crap before I wrestled them into submission with my heroic efforts; they didn’t. Absolutely Steve, as I said before, I enjoyed your slot and your system did some good things. The nature of the Owston event means that everyone who demo'ed ...

Re: Fane 12-250TC Retro Speaker.

Also the string recording played by Ray was badly affected by them, I’ll wager. Indeed Steve. The Pachelbel I played at Owston was a bit disappointing, being quite 'edgy'. I was talking with someone aferwards who commented that it wasn't a very good recording but the reason I wanted to play it was ...

Re: Le cleach Horns

You could just add the horn to BLH speaker, it will focus and boost the forward sound wave. There was an interesting design that had a second driver in the BLH to boost the bass response to match the extra dB a front loaded horn gave. Personally I got the best from these horns with a Lowther by hav...

Mike did something similar (Without rectifier) some years ago.
Are you thinking of his 'E-Choke'?

Re: Inverted OTL with 6SN7/6AS7

Looks like the HV version isn't quite as high as I recalled, 200VAC input. Anyway, here are some links;

They should be fine with any current requirement we're likely to ask of them for audio projects.
But not voltage.
Isn't that what I said?

Re: Inverted OTL with 6SN7/6AS7

A bit fell off the end of my post. Was wondering if anyone had played around with this type of rectification or any other diyaudio modules like this? People seem to rate the approach on DIY Audio. I bought a few bare PCBs, a mixture of surface mounted and through hole, from a group buy on DIY Audio...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I bought some railings on ebay to complete our sun terrace that sits atop our garage (we live on a slope and the garage is semi-buried); a real bargain, exact size I need and unused - all for £80 instead of the £700-800 quotes I've seen. Today I hired a van and went to collect them from Gillingham i...

Re: The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

Here's some more hot Nimbus action... Would have been so much nicer if the springs uner the seats had been wound in opposite directions for left and right. I suppose that springs wound in this way might have an appeal to notions of aesthetic symmetry but there is no technical reason for having them...

Re: Inverted OTL with 6SN7/6AS7

Looks like... Yes, that's essentially it, nothing fundamentally new but a very nice implementation. I've got a couple of the dual rail boards that I originally bought for a Hiraga build but also two single rail ones for a MoFo project. I think the dual rail boards will now be destined for the parts...

Re: Inverted OTL with 6SN7/6AS7

Good result Wolfgang. As you know, I've started collecting parts with a view to building one myself sometime so I'll be interested in how you configure the SLB - in your earlier picture it looked like you had just done a standard build with respect to the CRC element of the SLB.

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

Showed the value of checking before soldering today; I had four resistors all look identical and all clearly labelled as 10K, the problem is that only three of them measured as 10K, the other is 1K! Something went wrong somewhere in the factory

Re: The Other 13E1 SE-OTL

Another step forward, I soldered up most of the parts for the driver PCBs today (sorry, not a great quality picture).
