Re: Another MoFo

Sorry if the following is noddy stuff but my talent isn't electronic engineering so I'll appreciate any pointers on offer. Issue #1: the voltage gain of the Aikido Cascade circuit above is x55 - a little too much for my needs. I need to try and understand how the gain is set and make some adjustment...

Another MoFo

I don't want to dump in Mike's (aka Little Eddy) MoFo thread so this is a new one for my project. I'm thinking of building a MoFo to use for the bass drivers should I progress with a two-way open baffle speaker build, otherwise it'll just be another amplifier to occasionally use. With the OBs I woul...

Re: MoFo

Two microwave transformers are due for delivery on Monday and MoFo PCBs are on their way across the pond. I've been checking out the 6SN7 driver stage and how to hook it up to the MoFo - may need to be something other than a 6SN7 and I have some questions so I'll start a new thread in the 'Everyone'...

or a contrasting pastel colour; haven't decided yet.
That would get my vote, maybe a pale mint green?

Re: Remember These?

Excellent result Steve, it looks absolutely at home.

What are you planning with respect to the transformer cover - I imagine something creative to fit in with the retro look.

What feedback resistor did you settle on for your 16ohm load? It's probably about the value I should be aiming for.

Great stuff Steve!

Has it retained the magic of your breadboard build?

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I'm looking forward to the clocks going forward shortly as the gym sessions are getting pretty boring now and it'll be nice to ride out after work to the lanes on a proper bike. That said, the spin bike sessions in the gym are delivering - 3 sessions this week totalling 33.9 virtual miles at a vitua...

Re: MoFo

Thanks Mike, I just bought the last two available - I anticipate 12Watts being perfectly adequate, in fact to start with I may go somewhat lower as I have a pair of 12V 5A SMPS modules that I can use to prove the basic functioning.

Re: MoFo

Found a guy in Swinton with a number of different models for sale that I could go and test. Picked these up for £10 each. Any chance of a pointer; as I haven't got any suitable chokes it probably makes sense to get something cheap and, possibly(?) better. Only problem is I'm down in the South West.

Re: MoFo

I've just ordered a pair of MoFo boards from the DIYAudio store. I'm not sure I really need another amplifier but I'm intrigued by it's simplicity and based on some basic assumptions about what i could use with the MoFo circuit I have pretty much everything I would need, apart from the Hammond choke...
