Re: 300B Headphone Amp

Looks like some typical ground loop stuff, Ray. I would try first to connect one power plug with reversed phase/neutral (turn it around 180 degr) and see what happens. I am sure this is an easy fix. I am eager to hear about your experience with the different filter settings! I'm not sure it's simpl...

Yeh, but only if you feel like smiling. Otherwise it's just like one of those cheap weekly self-help emails that we get at work giving you lists of easy things you can do to improve your mental health
Of course, I didn't think beyond being able to genuinely smile.

Re: 300B Headphone Amp

I've just had a really frustrating evening. I moved the 300B HPA into my 'den' (actually the small workspace under the stairs) to use the Soekris DAC with my Noir HPA so I can start exploring the world of custom-brewed filters. I now have ground hum on the output and the cause is proving elusive. I'...

At the moment, being a slightly fat bastard is the only sensible choice :(

Re: General health matters.

I know its not for everyone and perhaps I appear to be a bit of a sat case, but I use an app, MyFitnessPal, on my smartphone to keep track of what I imbibe. It gives me targets for carbs/protein/fats/salt/sugars and the like. Sugar is the hardest one to keep on target but because I eat a lot of frui...

Re: Why Amazon knows so much about you.

Smaller traders *are* on Amazon, what they gain in sales they lose is customer contact as the ‘customer’ belongs to Amazon and their buying habits. It’s called Amazon Market Place. I use Market Place for second-hand books and CDs (from small independent sellers if possible) - it's generally worked ...

Re: 300B Headphone Amp

So, quite coincidentally, last evening Soekris released the long promised firmware upgrade for the dam1121 DAC module. This evening, after a short tussle with a terminal emulator and RS232 interface cable, I've updated my dam1121. I wasn't familiar enough with the previous firmware to be able to say...

Re: 300B Headphone Amp

Good progress today. I got the Soekris DAM1121 DAC module all hooked up and playing, both using HQPlayer via USB from the workstation and using a USB OTG connection from my smartphone. Output from the DAC is routed through my NOIR HPA. The Soekris board is 'out of the box' so just the stock filters ...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I made good use of this morning's 'stay indoors' weather and got the DAC working! I headed out on the bike as soon as the weather radar showed the rain clearing; 25miles without getting rained on! Same roads as yesteray but worked a bit harder so higher wattage/HR and faster average! Departed: Feb 1...

Dennis is certainly disrupting plans down here. I did manage to get in a ride yesterday morning when the weather radar showed a gap in the rain - I managed to stay reasonably dry. Thanks, that's just what I would like to install. I've bookmarked it for reference - first thing I need to do is get something in chain to replace the horrible uPVC front door the previous owners installed! I've started to scout out reclaimation yards.

Looks good Nick. We live in a Victorian house and I've always thought it would be nice to have a stained glass insert for the light above the front door.

We went with Bulb, which sounds similar but is 100% renewables.

They've been very good so far..
I've had a quick look at the Bulb site and it looks good from a renewables perspective but i couldn't see anything similar to the Octopus agile service - do you have a pointer?
