Nick beat me to it, its an x-ray tube. If that Dalek is full size then you could probably x-ray someone in New Zealand with it from here...

Re: Couple of amps and other bits for sale
Hi Ant,
Is the Samson still up for grabs? It would work a treat for a workshop project I've got on the go.
Cheers

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth
There's nothing on the Fostex trace around 300Hz, and nobody else seems to have measured it or at least posted a measurement. I did a couple of additional scans with the speaker pushed back further into the bay, and it's clear there's a lot going on in the room between 100Hz and 400Hz. Maybe there'...

Before and after DSC_0064.png DSC_0084.png DSC_0085.png " it's alive! Alive! Arrrhhhh, now I know it is really possible! " Got a bit carried away while I was adding the IEC socket and squeezed in a Pi + MamboDac and a regulated power supply for it, plus some change over switches to flip be...

Filtered vs non-filtered IEC sockets for audio equipment, what are the thoughts from the internet? I've got both in my spares box, just wondering if there is any practical effect of filtered ones as the electrons are going to be squeezed through a transformer, some diodes and an assortment of caps a...

Project box clear out
I've been having a clear out in my project box and have a couple of give aways. Both these are free to a good home (or even a bad one, I'm not that fussy). 2 x delay board PCB and the pre-programmed delay chips. These were designed way back when by Nick and there is a build thread and parts list som...

WAD HD83
Hi folks, Its been a quiet summer on the hifi front for me, but I couldn't pass up a bargain and picked up an HD83 for a sensible price as the metalwork has a bad case of the pox. Lifting the lid it looks to have been loved at some point in its past as it has a pair of Jensen coupling caps grafted i...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth
There is a difference in glass mat properties between the US and Europe: In the US most mat (woven or CSM) is made with a binder that holds the fibres together, this makes it easier to cut and handle as it holds its shape without fraying. The binder is dissolved by the solvents in polyester resin an...

Re: 6C33C SE-OTL Project
You've probably answered this before, but where do yo get your sockets for the 6c33? I've been through the usual run of trying to get the terminals to be reliable on the ceramic based ones and parked my 6c33 project because of this (and moving house...) Cheers Simon C PS: looking good, and should ke...

Cast resin? If folks can make tables out of it there's no reason I can see that the same methods wouldn't work for an o/b Its surprisingly easy to work with, its all in the preparation and having somewhere dust free to pour it. Vacuum de-gassing helps if you are going for see-through perfection, bu...
