Re: Classic TT Company

I have his prototype - the first one of these that he made back in 2012 or so, I think it was, mine still has the 301 motor but otherwise identical. Ray Clarke really knows his shit, and if you've got the cash it's worth going for - probably the last turntable you'll ever need - it's certainly the l...

Re: Attendees Owston 1/2 June 19

Sadly neither Meredith or I will be able to make it this year - we were a bit limited in the choice of dates we could go on holiday and our two week break in Scotland straddles the Owston weekend.

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs

Ugh, another setback due to a supplier fail - this time on the part of FPE! :x The remaining bottom panel is supposed to form a kind of L-shape like the top panel. A channel was specified to be drilled along the panel, such that I could bend it 90 degrees in the right place (exactly the same as what...

Re: Soekris DAC Build

Very easy. And, should you decide to go with the DAM1121, I have some PCBs that connect a JLSounds USB board to the input headers on the 1121 and another that plugs into the 1121 output header to make it easy to connect the power supplies etc. You would be welcome to a set.the DAM1121, I have some ...

Re: Soekris DAC Build

Looking again at the dam1941 though, this one would negate the need for a separate USB to I2S board and has the SPDIF input built in as well.

Re: Soekris DAC Build

Space considerations in my Masterpiece headphone amp mean I won't be using the Acko supplies in that project so, if of interest, we could cut a deal? I have two of the boards, each carrying two supplies. All the supplies are configured for 5V. Oh definitely. I've decided to go back to my original s...

Re: Soekris DAC Build

That said, if I put the NUC into a separate case (might not be a bad idea anyway) that opens up the possibility of configuring the dam1941 with a balanced tube output stage. Also, looks like no USB to I2S conversion is needed.

Re: Soekris DAC Build

Hi Ray, probably the 1121 too as it seems most optimised - the 1941 and 1021 has stuff on that I don't really need. This really follows on from my discovery of the Daphile software - everything just fell into place after that. So what I want to do is design and build a full music server into a case ...

Re: Soekris DAC Build

Sorry for the thread archaeology but thanks to Ray for the heads-up on these DACS and the associated power supplies etc. I now have a cunning plan for a music server based on this DAC - basically a NUC running Daphile (the subject of another thread) plus the Soekris DAC, going in to a pair of AMB al...

Re: Heads-up - Daphile

Plan is to run it on a fanless NUC board with an SSD - in fact I bought the board itself last week in preparation.

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs

Finally got hold of some more of the screws I needed, also I now have 24 EL509's!

The bottom panels still need to go on, but here's what they will look like with the valves fitted: Shades of Atma-Sphere methinks?

Heads-up - Daphile

I thought I'd share a new discovery I made last week, which looks good enough to be a perfect solution to what I've been looking for in a music server for literally years. The application is called Daphile - the link is here: https://www.daphile.com/ and there is a big thread over on diyaudio about ...

Re: Remember These?

Oh and it was great to see Dave and Meredith, this afternoon. Some great music and great company. :) Cheers Steve, it was a great way to spend a windy Sunday afternoon, thanks so much for your hospitality, and the tea, and the cheese and biscuits - all were delicious! It's quite amazing, hearing to...

https://i.imgur.com/YAZoQeQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/wNHtts8.jpg No, they're not finished. I was hoping though, by the end of tonight, that I'd have been able to get all of the panels bolted together on both of them so that I'd have an idea of what they'd look like when finished, as a sort of proof ...

Re: A Bluetooth speaker

Thanks very much for the input everyone - certainly something to chew on. My inclination is to go for the simpler Bluetooth boards I think. But many things need to be done before I get to this.
