Re: Nothing In Particular

Meredith and I did some tweaking to the positioning of the big Mets last night whilst listening to the Darrell Scott albums - just a few centimetres forward and back, and adjusting the toe-in. Seems Meredith's ears are better at picking up changes than mine are, the sound has got quite a bit better ...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Meredith discovered Darrell Scott while I was out on my voyage yesterday - we ended up buying his entire discography on Bandcamp. Superb songs, superbly recorded.

No worries Ant, I'm glad it's getting some use again. I've never had to use the tap on the front to empty the tank as the fluid mostly just evaporates, but you might need to depending on how intensively you use it.

It's a noisy bugger though isn't it? Ear protection needed.

Re: Tesla.

Those adverts for (non plug in hybrids) I’m mystified what sort of fool would buy one of those. So the internal combustion hydrocarbon engine is generating electricity, which produces less power (50%) probably than you would have had if you just had the internal combustion engine..... oxymoron! Whe...

Re: Building the uTracer

Resurrecting an old thread. I'm investigating the possibility of building one of these things for myself. In the course of my research I've found that some builders have built their own heater supply for greater accuracy, eschewing the 'pulse' supply that the uTracer has. As far as I can see it seem...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Managed to bag a Digilent Analog Discovery 2 before they became unobtainium for a while (seems production has temporarily stopped). Arrived today and I've been giving it a quick test with my old scope and signal generator - very impressed, and certainly good enough for audio work. Scope and signal g...

Re: Felicia balanced power supply / conditioner

OK - provided you live in the North or somewhere en route from London, and can have it dropped off in the latter part of next week, reduced to £30 cos I just want it gone. I have the parts to build another if need be.

Moth RCM Mk II (record cleaning machine)

Can't remember exactly how long I've had this thing, I think I got it in the early 2000's. All in working order (very little to go wrong) although the velvet pads on the vacuum tube might need refixing as they are peeling off. Excess to requirements now as I have the Loricraft. £149 to properly vacu...

Felicia balanced power supply / conditioner

Felicia balanced power supply home-built by a friend of mine in the mid-2000s - 6-way, although two of the channels need new fuses. See https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=18441 . This has been built into an MDF box 660mm x 400mm x 220mm with IEC in and UK sockets, individually switched. It ...

Test gear - Scope & sig gen

Continuing my clear out and de-clutter exercise. I'll leave these up for a week or two before putting them on the 'bay. 1) Tektronix 466 oscilloscope in full working condition with manual and a couple of (cheap) test probes - you may want to upgrade these. It also hasn't been calibrated for ages so ...

Re: The Owston that never was..

Just noticed this thread - sorry I haven't been onto the forum for ruddy ages as had some more urgent issues to deal with - I've managed to find another job now so that panic is over and done with. Well done Dave, bet you are relieved. Good to hear you are still enjoying the big Mets. Cheers Steve....

Just noticed this thread - sorry I haven't been onto the forum for ruddy ages as had some more urgent issues to deal with - I've managed to find another job now so that panic is over and done with. Well, this would obviously have been the year that I finally brought my completed Beast power amplifie...

Re: Corona Virus Lock Down 'Rant' Thread.

Thanks for the advice all. I agree, Jack and I think this was the mistake I made last time around - finding a job IS a full time job and should be treated as such. Whether I can get up at 6:30 each morning is another matter, I haven't had to do that even for my normal job in quite a while!! Certainl...
